Advanced Entrepreneurship Course for Farmers: Farm Management Courses

This program is to primarily develop farmers in competencies/skills in farm management particularly in diagnosing farm business performance, market aspects in farm business, budgeting, negotiation with buyers and suppliers and sustainable farming practices.

The advance entrepreneurship course has five modules namely:

Module 1: Diagnosing Farm Business
  • Express desire to do benchmarking to measure performance
  • Apply diagnostic tools and techniques in diagnosing a farm business performance
  • Exercise skills in making sound judgment or plans based on outcomes of diagnostic activities
Module 2:Market Aspects in Farm Business
  • Perform demand and supply analysis for farm commodities and products
  • Apply simple forecasting techniques
  • Apply skills in costing and pricing of farm produce
Module 3: Budgeting for Farmers
  • Explain the value of preparing and working within a budget in managing a farm
  • Exercise skills in cash planning and budgeting
Module 4: Negotiation with Buyers and Suppliers
  • Explain important negotiation concepts, strategies and tactics
  • Identify sources of power in negotiation
  • Practice effective negotiation skills in an encounter with buyer and suppliers
Module 5: Sustainable Farming Practices
  • Explain steps and requirements to implement at least three practices identified by DAR for sustainable farming
  • Draft an action plan on the three identified practices.
